Why AutoRedial Stops When Voicemail Answers

You start automatic redial, hear a recorded message and notice that retries stop. A call can connect without a person speaking to you. When Android reports an active call, AutoRedial ends its retry automation and leaves that call connected.
Use this guide to distinguish that behavior from an attempt limit or a retry setting. You do not need to share the destination number to make these initial checks.
A busy line and voicemail are different outcomes
| What happens | What it means for the session |
|---|---|
| Android reports busy before connection | Another attempt may run if busy retries are enabled and attempts remain. |
| A person answers and the call becomes active | Retrying ends; the conversation continues. |
| Voicemail or an announcement causes Android to report an active call | Retrying also ends. The app does not identify who answered. |
| The configured attempt limit is reached | The session ends even if no call connected. |
AutoRedial uses Android call states. It does not listen to or classify call audio to distinguish a person from a recording, and it does not offer audio-based voicemail detection.
Check the outcome before changing settings
- Check whether the call is still open on the call screen. If it connected, you decide when to end it.
- Review session history and the attempt outcome. Separate a connection from a limit or error.
- If it did not connect, review the selected retry reasons. Enabling busy retries does not enable every other outcome.
- Check the attempt limit and selected SIM before starting another session.
The interval is the pause between attempts. Reducing it does not turn a connected announcement into a busy signal. It does not make the app hang up an active call either. If the destination always connects to voicemail, repeating the same settings will not remove that limitation.
If you want to try again
Manually end the call you no longer need and check that the previous session has finished. You can then start another bounded session or call later. Starting again is your decision: AutoRedial does not automatically resume retries after a connected conversation.
For a public service or business, check its published opening hours and alternative contact channels. AutoRedial cannot guarantee an answer or priority in a phone queue. Calls still use your phone line and carrier terms.
If the recorded outcome seems unexpected
Note your phone model, Android version, AutoRedial version, selected retry reason and the outcome shown in history. Explain whether you heard a busy tone, silence or an announcement without including another person’s private information. Share that context with IliciLabs support.
Before choosing a redial app
If you need an app to identify recordings and automatically hang up on them, AutoRedial does not meet that requirement. If you want controlled retries based on Android’s reported call state, review the product overview and the official Google Play listing.
AutoRedial requires Android 10 or later and the default phone app role. Google Play shows the applicable price and availability for your account and country. The header image is a product illustration, not evidence of a real call.
