Why AutoRedial Needs to Be Your Default Phone App

AutoRedial must be your Android phone’s default calling app to start an automatic redial session. Installing it alone is not enough. If you want to keep another app as the default phone app at all times, this requirement matters before you buy.

AutoRedial is designed for Android 10 or later on a phone with calling capability. Check the current price and device availability in Google Play.

Why does it need that role?

AutoRedial uses Android’s calling system to place calls and receive their states. That lets it distinguish a call that has not connected from one Android reports as active, and manage the retry session accordingly.

Android’s default phone app documentation describes this role as providing the phone and in-call interface. It is a meaningful change to your calling experience, not just permission to display an extra button.

In AutoRedial, the initial checks prevent a redial session from starting if the app does not hold the default phone role. Granting an unrelated permission does not replace that requirement.

What changes, and what stays with your carrier?

QuestionWhat to expect
Which interface handles ordinary calls?AutoRedial provides its phone and call screens while it holds the role.
Does this change my SIM or mobile plan? No. Calls still depend on your SIM, coverage and carrier; normal calling charges may apply.
Does it automate WhatsApp calls? Its redial session uses Android telephony, not a WhatsApp calling loop.
Does “connected” mean a person answered? No. An automated announcement can also produce a connected state. AutoRedial does not classify the call’s audio.

The redial cycle runs locally without an account or an Internet permission. This does not make a cellular call free or remove the need for a working telephone connection. Review the product privacy policy for its data handling.

How to choose AutoRedial as the default

Open the installed app and follow its explanation and Android’s phone-app selection prompt. Select AutoRedial if you agree with that change. The app also provides a route to system default-app settings when needed.

You can usually find the choice in Settings → Apps → Default apps → Phone app. Menu names and locations vary by Android version and manufacturer. Search Settings for “default apps” if that path is different on your phone.

The default role and the app’s requested permissions are separate checks. Read each explanation; if setup remains incomplete, check the message shown by AutoRedial instead of repeatedly starting a session.

Can I switch back afterwards?

Yes. Finish any current call and stop the redial session first. In Android’s default-app settings, select your previous phone app from the installed options. AutoRedial then needs to be selected again before you can start another redial session with it.

Before relying on the setup, make a normal test call to a willing contact and check incoming-call handling too. Features supplied by a particular manufacturer or carrier may differ between phone apps.

Decide whether it fits your routine

If changing the default phone app suits you, continue with the AutoRedial product overview. Set a deliberate retry interval and attempt limit; a connected call ends the retry automation, including when a recording answers.

If your phone will not offer the default-app choice, contact IliciLabs support with your phone model, Android version and the exact setup message before buying. Do not include private phone numbers or call recordings.
